Here is a taster of the different types of active sports you can do.

Tennis
Tennis can improve your health through increasing your muscle tone, improving your blood circulation and heart strength if done on a regular basis. It is a game that can be played with one or more people and if played with a similar level of skill partner, can significantly improve your mobility and stamina.

Swimming
Swimming is a great non-weight-bearing form of exercise which does not put any stress on the joints or bones. It is a good form of exercise that can continue into the outdoors in summer and indoors in winter. It is also good improves heart conditioning and is a good weight control activity. Football

Archery
All ages and abilities are welcome to take part in this sport. Archery improves upper body strength and fitness, balance and co-ordination. All sections of the community are encouraged to take part in: shooting, coaching, competition and even going to the Olympic Games.

Pétanque (sometimes known as Boule)
Pétanque can be played in the garden or village green as a local fun game, or up to World Championship level. Pétanque is good for balance, mobility and keeping muscles flexed. The great part of this sport is that age is not relevant during a game, younger people can challenge adults on equal terms.

Fencing
Fencing is one of the oldest sports and requires the development of skill and dexterity when using a sword. One of the benefits of fencing is the ability to keep playing into older age. Fencing is a very safe sport provided the correct equipment is used.
