Tips & techniques: The benefits of building up regular activity
Current guidelines recommend at least 30 minutes of physical activity for good health, and for extra weight loss increase this to 40-60 minutes, 5 times per week.

This may seem a very daunting prospect especially if juggling work, family and social time. However, there is good news! You can break these workout times down into smaller more frequent times that will fit in and around your day.

Doing moderate intensity exercise lasting at least 10 minutes each session and cumulating in a total of at least 30 minutes will provide significant and similar health benefits to exercising continuously for 30 minutes.

You deserve a reward! Once you've set and achieved some specific goals, celebrate your successes – no matter how small. You might choose a reward that is related to physical activity:

Or reward yourself with a trip to the movies or tickets to your favourite play or sporting event!
