Eight week cycle programmes for Beginners
and Improvers across Teignbridge for adults
(16 years plus) looking to improve their
physical health, meet new people and build
their confidence on a bike.

The course is delivered over eight, two-hour sessions
starting in a traffic free environment. Friendly, qualifi ed
instructors will take you through the basics and help you
on your way to better health!

Bikes and helmets are provided - you just need
to bring yourself in comfy clothing!

There’s an opportunity for over-50s to get ‘Fit as a Fish’ thanks to a new swimming scheme from Age Concern Devon, Teignbridge District Council, 5x30 Devonwide, Cliffden Hotel and Action for Blind People.

When? Every Friday between 10.30am - 12.30pm
Where? Cliffden Hotel, Teignmouth

For just £1.50 over 50s from Teignbridge can enjoy an hour of swimming activities, including aqua aerobics, beginner & improver sessions and more, led by qualified teachers, coaches and volunteers. The price also includes an hour of access to the hotel’s lounge after swimming, where a diverse range of interesting talks and taster sessions from professionals in the community will be provided, along with light refreshments.

It’s all part of the National Lottery funded ‘Fit as a Fiddle’ initiative, which provides access to a range of activities for people aged 50 and over across the country. The ‘Fit as a Fish’ Devon project is now able to offer activities other than swimming such as seated exercise. Organisers are hoping that the affordable new scheme will enable more people to enjoy an active lifestyle, and will provide social and health benefits. The weekly sessions take place every Friday at the same time, are open to all over 50s, and booking isn’t necessary.

5x30 Devonwide sponsored the annual Teignbridge Superstars event at Broadmeadow Sports Centre in Teignmouth. The event was open to boys and girls in school years 5 to 10 to represent their local clubs and compete against other athletes in events such as the Bleep Test, Rowing and Cycling.

The winning club was Newton Abbot Somersaults who recieved the £200 prize money that was donated by the 5x30 Devonwide Project and which was used for the ongoing development of the club.
