Starting to get involved in physical activity projects and setting up new groups can have a beneficial impact on communities.
For example, you could decide to set up a new play area in the community and enclose the area with a hedge. A new community group could be formed based on setting up the new play area and planting a hedge.
In setting up a new community group you may be able to access funding for activities as well as getting some exercise.
Maintain your health and independence as you age
There are many benefits to the community that are associated with setting
up a new physical activity group. These could include:
Getting more people in the community out and about
(reducing social isolation)
Making new friends
Creating a ‘safer’ community
Making use of existing village facilities
Bringing physical activity closer to you
Sharing the cost of physical activity to an individual
