Benefits of activity
Many people have an inactive lifestyle. An increase in new technology and labour saving devices has contributed to the reduction in activity seen over the last 20 years.
Why exercise?
It makes you feel good, promotes good health, helps weight loss and reduces the risk of developing life threatening diseases. If regular, physical activity can give many long term physical and mental benefits and it is great fun!
Any form of physical activity that people enjoy should be encouraged from housework/mowing the lawn to hiking on the Moors or sky diving.

Being more active is safe for most people, however you should ask your
doctor’s advice before starting any kind of physical activity programs, if you haven’t
done much exercise for a while or have had a recent illness or injury.
Stop exercising if you feel pain, dizziness or generally unwell.

Your health will start to benefit as soon as you start to do any activity. Scientific studies have indicated that exercise is one of the most popular and effective treatments for depression when people actually give it a go.
